The Boeing Company is seeking a Mid-Level Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer based out of Huntington Beach , California.
The Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) Guidance, Navigation & Control team is seeking a Mid-Level Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer to join our team in Huntington Beach, CA. This role performs research and development in the areas of guidance, navigation and control (GNC) for application to the broad range of current and future Boeing products including commercial, military, and space vehicles.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with other engineers to grow and execute the BR&T GNC research and development portfolio, which includes both Boeing internal as well as government contracted R&D. You will mature and transition technologies in areas such as control system design and analysis, algorithm and software development process tools and methods, dynamic system modeling and simulation, uncertainty quantification, state estimation, trajectory optimization, and enabling technologies for increased automation and full autonomous vehicle operations. The work involves aspects of problem solving, design, coding / software implementation, mathematical modeling and simulation, model based engineering, algorithm development, software tool development, prototyping, testing, analysis, and verification and validation. The successful candidate will carry out experiment design, testing, and results analysis as well as prepare reports and give presentations. The successful candidate is expected to have the ability to analyze and develop solutions to complex GNC problems. The successful candidate must be a motivated self-starter with good team collaboration skills and strong communication skills. The ability to work independently, as well as in a multi-disciplinary team environment, and to be able to adapt to a changing work statement is necessary.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs design and analysis of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) models and tools to meet requirements.
  • Gathers, defines and documents system level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory requirements.
  • Executes tests, performs analysis or simulation and design review per to deliver a compliant product.
  • Supports development of solutions and disposition of issues to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in new business development efforts.
  • Works under general supervision.


This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 3+ years of experience with g uidance, navigation, and controls


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Navigation and inertial systems experience
  • Experience with analysis and design


Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
