The design engineer will be an integral member of the Advanced Concepts Aerodynamics and Propulsion team, providing design support and solutions to a wide ranging list of projects and components.The Advanced Concepts Aerodynamics and Propulsion team supports Boeing Commercial Airplanes Product Development in conducting future aerospace studies. The Configuration Design Engineer for this position will be responsible for conducting performance analysis, configuration trades and evaluations for new and novel airplane concepts.We are a team of fast-paced and eager engineers; skilled scientists and thinkers; bold innovators willing to push boundaries.   • Develops, integrates and documents aerodynamic and propulsion configuration requirements to establish the airplane design
  • Develops, maintains and modifies aerodynamic and propulsion integrated designs, using aero tools, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and performance assessment tools and/or other design methods, to provide product configuration definition
  • Performs, integrates analytical results and partner data to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. The requirement will be a combination of on-site and remote work.Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience with airplane Configuration

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with 3D Modeling Software (e.g. CATIA)
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Airplane configuration software (e.g. PABLO, SWIFT, Open VSP)

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
