A Media Systems DevOps Engineer II writes and maintains software to support the video engineering pipeline. We work on video compression pipelines, building video and computer graphics related software stacks, engineering web interfaces/desktop GUIs, designing and installing hardware deployments, and designing and supporting embedded systems. We work nimbly in the fast paced visual effects industry to design solutions for the toughest video engineering challenges, often, in areas where there aren't currently any solutions. We work on both long term projects and also production-based requests to make sure we get the magic done on time.
What You'll Do

  • Design new and exciting projects using bleeding edge technologies to allow us to stay at the forefront of the visual effects industry
  • Work on high quality, real time video streaming solutions involving testing new video codecs and transport protocols
  • Design new methods to manage and verify steam integrity as it travels through our pipeline
  • Help maintain a wide array of existing workflows and scripts
  • Test and validate software tools and techniques in production.
  • Bring new ideas to the table! We love a fresh perspective and new technologies.
  • Brainstorm with the team to design new workflows and new applications for technologies in the video engineering field
  • Work effectively with artists, production supervisors, and technical staff across ILM, Stagecraft, Lucasfilm
  • Work on Linux hardware to ensure video playback is consistent and accurate
  • Work with production to design or extend tools to fulfill show needs
  • Train users on how to use the software/ solutions we design
  • Monitor email and ticket system for potential issues and help users find a solution


What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in a related field
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Proficiency in a Linux development environment
  • Experience with the following programming languages:
    • C/C++
    • Swift/iOS programming
    • Python
    • Javascript
  • Networking experience (TCP/UDP, IP)
  • Experience with GIT
  • Detail oriented and strong self-sufficient troubleshooter
  • Computer Graphics experience
  • Passion for technology
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in a studio environment
    • Familiarity with video streaming protocols
    • Familiarity with GPU programing languages (CUDA, GL, Metal)
    • Experience with ARM based systems (Raspberry Pi, Jetson etc)
    • Experience with embedded systems (arduino, Teensy)
