Our long-term goal is to upgrade humanity’s industrial base on Earth and on Mars. Check out our latest YouTube video here!

Team:

Relativity seeks an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to join Relativity full-time.

Your application will be reviewed, and if you are chosen to move forward, you will interview with Engineers at Relativity Space. If you are selected to move forward; your application will be considered for the below specialized teams:

Launch: The Launch team at Relativity Space builds up our Launch Operations programs at both of our Launch Sites, Vandenberg AFB, and Cape Canaveral Florida. This team leads the strategy and logistics to make launch a reality, as well as manages the Health and Safety teams. As we near our goal of launching in fall 2021, our launch team ensures that our launch pads are well equipped.

Propulsion: The Propulsion team at Relativity Space is responsible for the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of Relativity’s entirely 3D printed rocket engines, Aeon- 1 and Aeon-R. As a part of this team, you will help build, create, and iterate on the full product lifecycle of our engines.

Powder-Based Additive: The Additive Development team at Relativity Space will develop, create, and operate the most advanced additive manufacturing technologies in the world. This best-in-class team makes sure that the infrastructure, materials, tools, and equipment are in place for us to rapidly iterate and print.

Robotics Hardware/Additive Development: The Robotics Hardware/Additive Development team is responsible for the design, development, installation, and commissioning of the large format robotic 3D printers that build Relativity’s rockets. The team is a true R&D machine that is constantly designing, testing, inventing, questioning, and building in service of creating the next generation of disruptive aerospace manufacturing techniques.

Structures: The Structures team at Relativity is responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing our launch vehicle integrated structures, as well as flight mechanisms. As a part of this team, you will be given hardware ownership for the full product lifecycle, and get the opportunity to conveniently validate your hardware through testing at our factory of the future, headquartered in Long Beach, CA.

Vehicle: The Vehicle team at Relativity Space designs, develops, and qualifies all hardware on our launch vehicles. Unique to Relativity, you will get to work across many teams to iterate and support Relativity's first-of-its-kind 3D printing software and robotics technology.

What you'll do:

You will play a key role in driving Terran 1 launch, developing initial architecture for the upcoming Terran R vehicle, and re-thinking launch vehicle systems around large-scale 3D printing. You will work closely with multidisciplinary vehicle engineering and additive teams to deliver a world-class launch vehicle.

Here are some examples of what you could be working on:

  • Design, analyze, and test components and assemblies for flight use
  • Develop and execute tests to support dynamic systems development and qualification, including hands-on work like test article integration, instrumentation setup, data processing, and model validation

  • Earning your degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Relevant internship experience preferred
