ME-VS Tech Lead - Chassis
Description
In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. Additional responsibilities may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain and improve a competitive Global Bill Of Process
- Support/lead development of Best Practices
- Develop, maintain and improve Global Bill of Equipment and all major M&E and Tooling in areas of:
- Global Technology Step Function
- Review common technical training courseware development and provide direction to Manufacturing Engineers and Equipment Suppliers on proper technical content
- Qualified Suppliers and Qualified Supplier List
- Global SOR's Section 5 Technical Requirements Template
- Seller Buy Off Checklist and Plant Validation Checklist
- T&E Bulletins
- Develop and Maintain Process Control Plans (PCP)
- Cost book
- Common/Reference/Template Tools utilized across all vehicle programs
- Manufacturing M&E "Generic PADs" as Required
- Provide input for reuse, recovery and replacement of major equipment
- Lead advance technology developments
Act as Single ME-VS Voice To Product Engineering Organizations
- Provide single Global voice for manufacturing at Sub System Leadership Teams, Powertrain Assembly Dress Integration Teams, etc.
- Drive manufacturing efficiency through product designs.
- Support GATS (ATW, Decoupled Development, Coupled Integration) projects
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering direction in Product Peer Reviews
Support Program Execution Teams:
- Review and approve Product Statement of Requirement Appendix E1s
- Support Global Program execution problem resolution as required
- Develop and Maintain Process Review Check sheet Template
- Support Program Working Calls
- Evaluate new Product content concept sheets and determine manufacturing implications
- Review Manufacturing Planning Studies (MPS) as required
- Review tooling proposals (peer review process)
- Support M&E Tooling Peer Reviews
- Participate in tool validation planning and buyoffs as required
- Provide direction to Manufacturing Engineers and AVDC Manufacturing Engineers for training, lessons learned, etc.
- Review and approve, with ME-VS Automation, Statement of Requirements (section 5 & 6)

Success is measured by:
- Competitive and optimal BOP, BOE, BOT... and knowing that it is competitive and optimal.
- Accuracy and continuous reduction/optimization of Cost Book
- Product designs that meet Manufacturing Requirements
- Reduction of redesign cost for common / template tools
- Advance projects initiated, completed and available in time for Program Execution's use
- Successful program launches
- Attainment of Business Plan Deployment metrics
- Global Extended Staff-approved Global Statement Of Requirements
Additional Description
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years previous experience in the associated sub-system (assembly plant and/or product).
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Demonstration of GM's Core Values and Beliefs
- Support and understanding of diversity, especially organizational and cultural diversity.
- Strong analytical ability
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills
- Strong written and oral skills.
- Regional and global travel, on occasion.
- Early start times (6:00 AM) and late end times (11:59 PM)
Preferred Skills, Abilities and Experiences:
- Masters Degree
- 10-15 years experience (Processing and Tool or M&E development)
- Practical use and understanding of DFM/DFA and Lean Manufacturing
Required Developmental Training: (to be completed within time designated)
