The Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS) Technology and Operations team is seeking a Manager of Web Development who will provide leadership and direction to the Front-end and DevOps teams that manage the POLS web estate. This role will be responsible for ensuring the current technologies and infrastructure used for web development are maintained and optimized, while also creating a future-state strategy and roadmap.

Primary Areas of Focus:

  • Demonstrate an expertise in web development that translates into technical and functional leadership that can be leveraged within the team and with key stakeholders.
  • Identify continued opportunities for simplification and reduction of legacy tools, single points of failure and processes, with an emphasis on alignment between Academic Partners where possible.
  • Manage relationships with marketing leadership to meet Academic Partner expectations.
  • Leads the effort to ensure full documentation of processes and infrastructure is captured and continues to be maintained on a regular basis.
  • Works collaboratively with key stakeholders to understand and rationalize new requests, developing a methodology to quantify value and ROI of those requests.
  • Ensure key metrics are reported on and kept up to date in partnership with the web analytics teams.
  • Provide a comprehensive view of all projects that are in-flight and upcoming with appropriate reporting and statuses, in addition to creating and updating an overall roadmap.

  • Flexibility and adaptability when working in an environment of ongoing change, adjusting priorities and engagement as needed.
  • Curious and open-minded about innovative technologies and opportunities to align with other areas of Pearson outside of POLS.
  • Expertise in WordPress and/or other related content management system (open-source and commercial).
  • Advanced web development, DevOps and/or infrastructure experience
  • Understanding of how to work across a complex matrixed organization and manage ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
  • Self-motivated, able to effectively deal with a certain degree of autonomy and capable of making sound business decisions.
  • Strong track record of getting things done on time with high quality work products achieved with urgency and an "agile" mindset.
  • Ability to manage and develop others.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Acts ethically in all situations.
