The Role:

We are transforming technology and creating a digital evolution that will empower Centene to better serve our members. As Manager you will contribute to the achievement of corporate and divisional objectives by managing application development and maintenance activities of a team for Web activities. These activities include utilizing interpersonal skills in directing and motivating staff; evaluating business system requirements, identification and implementation of products and technologies to solve business issues; overseeing the detailed analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications.

As Manager, you will:

  • Ensure the development of a staff of competent personnel in the areas of project management, system analysis, design and development by selecting, developing, compensating, and motivating subordinates to best utilize their individual and group capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of web development technologies, including J2EE, XML/XSLT, STRUTS, portal/portlet technologies, and databases. Keeps abreast of object oriented development methodologies and stays current on newly developed object oriented design patterns.
  • Assure the development and adherence to accepted principles and standards in the development of systems with adequate security, audibility, back up, recovery, and documentation with the intent of handling data as a corporate resource.
  • Assure effective and responsive support for production data processing systems upon which day-to-day operations of the Plan are dependent.
  • Consult with business management in assessing their business systems requirements and recommends alternative plan to assist them in meeting their objectives

Qualifications:

Additionally you will bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or other related technical field required; Graduate Degree desirable.
  • Minimum five years' experience in programming, analysis, and/or directly related IT field
  • Three years' experience with object-oriented development and web-based programming preferred.
  • Minimum three years' experience utilizing object-oriented development methodologies, such as the Rational Unified Process required.
  • Health Care experience desired.
