Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development lifecycle - participate to build quality into products by reviewing documentation around the requirements, test plans, test reports and traceability reports
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, which also include an external resource team.
  • Being involved in the cross-functional team discussions and meetings
  • Work with product development engineers to ensure that products are developed with test in mind
  • Help develop/strengthen the automation framework to be robust and sustainable
  • Understand the regulated industry and provide the correct procedures and training to maintain compliance
  • Provide process improvements as needed throughout the SDLC
  • Build, guide, and enhance the engineering team to meet future needs. Working regularly to engage employees to gain work efficiencies and perform performance reviews.
  • Contribute key knowledge and expertise to the overall product team
  • Manage overall team schedules, resources, budget and equipment


Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience leading/supervising/managing software test teams
  • Experience with developing and managing project schedules, and report and resolve project issues
  • Experience with employee performance reviews
  • Experience with training and mentoring staff
  • Understanding of good software development and testing practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening skills and ability to communicate accurately and effectively one-on-one or in a group setting, as well as in written formats (email, presentations, and business correspondences.)
  • Team leadership and teamwork skills with excellent interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work in an environment with multiple short-term deadlines, frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Contribute high quality work to projects


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Device industry experience preferred
  • Experience working within the FDA Design Control Process
  • Expertise in CI pipeline builds, preferably using Bamboo or Jenkins


Functional Description: Management

Directs the activities of a software test development function for software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including local, networked, cloud-based or internet-related tools. This position oversees the software analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification. Develops quality standards for company products and oversees the development and execution of software test plans and analysis of test results. Provides guidance in the preparation of technical appraisals of programming languages and systems, computational software, and related technology. May oversee the integration of computers in the overall functions of scientific computation, data acquisition transmission, and processing. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and knowledge of company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Develops a proficiency of the company's business / market in order to inform decisions.


Scope:

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Provides guidance to team members / supporting employees using established company policies.
  • Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.


Judgement:

  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors.
  • Follows processes and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization.


Management:

  • Manages the coordination of department/functional activities with responsibility for results, methods and staffing.
  • In some instances may be responsible for a functional area or contracted / outsourced employees or matrixed reports.
  • People management responsibilities include hiring / terminations, performance reviews, career development coaching and compensation decisions.


Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of industry experience.
  • 2-5 years of previous management or lead experience.

Workplace Type:

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Assigned Desk. Based on the nature of your role you will have an assigned desk or office located at a Dexcom site and should plan to be onsite approximately 4-5 days per week.
