About the job
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering to join our global OpenShift Networking team. In this role, you will work as part of a growing team that implements Red Hat's networking vision and strategy. You will lead an experienced software development team to design, architect, and implement network observability capabilities for OpenShift platform. Your team will work with the Networking and UI development teams, Product Management, and User Experience Design (UxD) teams to deliver features and fix bugs in the OpenShift Admin Console, Network Observability UI extensions, backend Network Observability infrastructure components, and operators. This team, many of the people on the team, as well as other Red Hat teams you will work with are highly distributed requiring a highly collaborative approach is necessary for success. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
- Manage and grow a motivated, engaged, and effective team
- Work cross-functionally within other teams and stakeholders; foster collaboration with other teams
- Prioritize and manage the work by setting a roadmap and goals
- Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to increase your team's capabilities
- Ensure delivery against established goals and objectives
What you will bring
- 3+ years of experience managing, guiding, and mentoring a team of engineers, preferably a globally distributed team
- Experience delivering on time, quality software projects at an enterprise level as an individual contributor and technical leader
- Experience with designing user experience for applications
- Knowledge of IP network technologies
- Motivated with a proactive attitude, willingness to tackle new problems
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, balance priorities, and multiple schedules
The following will be considered a plus:
- Experience with network operations
- Experience with Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and container networking technologies
- Familiar with observability principles and technologies like time series databases and Elasticsearch
