Overview
The Cloud Engineering team is seeking an experienced, hands-on cloud savvy Engineering Manager to drive and mature our Public Cloud platforms . This Manager's efforts will result in improving our custom-built platform s by leveraging key cloud technologies to automate team onboarding and configuration, operations , impacting the day-to-day work of hundreds of application developers.
As a Software Engineering Manager , you'll raise up your team, helping develop individual careers and achieving goals, addressing common team problems, coaching, and mentoring the engineers. Your will lead a skilled, highly motivated team that builds, maintains, and improves the orchestration platforms across our public cloud, ensuring optimum operational reliability and secure workload execution, while offering a streamlined experience to application developers. You'll work closely with stakeholders from product and design, and other engineering leaders, to provide high-quality, repeatable technology delivery for the digital engineering organization. You'll provide leadership across all aspects of the Agile development lifecycle as a Public Cloud Product Owner to maintain a high bar for technology, people, and process.
Who you are

  • You have 4+ years of experience working in a Software Engineering organization
  • You have 2-5 years of experience managing high-output engineers
  • Proven track record in leading a team to ship features and products
  • A background in Infrastructure engineering- the ability to understand the team's technical challenges and architecture is the key to success
  • Strong experience in Terraform
  • You have 3+ years' experience working with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, etc.).
  • You demonstrate inclusive behavior and cultivate diversity to generate a sense of belonging amongst your colleagues
  • You have an expert understanding of development Agile methodologies and processes
  • You have a customer mindset and proven experience guiding Engineering teams to deliver products that meet customers where they are
  • You have a bias to solve problems with code, ensuring computers do the repeated work and humans do the interesting work
  • You are adept in knowledge of system architecture and design patterns
  • You proactively communicate information that is timely, accurate, and catered to the audience
  • You have a passion for growing others and regularly celebrate success
  • You understand that clear is kind and establish fast feedback loops with teammates and peers
  • You approach problem-solving holistically and consider solutions through a combination of technology and processes
  • You can coordinate work for a group of engineers on major initiatives
  • You can work as a Product Owner mentality in delivering and meeting customer satisfaction


What You'll Do (Management, Design & Development)

  • Recruit, hire, and directly supervise a high-performing team of engineers working in the Public Cloud space
  • Coach / mentor others in engineering techniques, processes, and new technologies; enable others to succeed; empower team members to be autonomous, fast, and effective
  • Manage all HR responsibilities for your team, including pay planning, promotions, expenses, and leave
  • Understand / foster the value of radical candor when having 1:1 conversation
  • Lead large initiatives within the team, including technical design and delivery of complex features, ensuring the impacts are Fast, Reliable, Observable, Secure and Easy
  • Celebrate wins and eliminate blockers, communicating effectively to appropriate stakeholders throughout
  • Develop technical roadmaps and lead engineers across one or more squads to deliver initiatives; apply your understanding of fundamentals of the business to ensure technical roadmap aligns with business opportunities
  • Recommend improvements to overall application system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Identify ways to improve codebases, solutions to complex problems; effectively propose paths forward to drive outcomes
  • Recommend changes to processes and tools at the group / department level based on industry standards, patterns, and practices
  • Diagnose / troubleshoot extremely complex issues
  • Iterate toward a seamless, repeatable onboarding experience for Engineers on your team and beyond
