Vivify Health is a startup company providing an eHealth solution based entirely upon a cloud platform. The solution delivers an intuitive user experience, using consumer electronics, allowing patients to easily maintain their own health at home while remaining constantly connected with their providers, family, and friends. Vivify Health has partnered with the nation's leading network operator to provide their RPM (Remote Patient Monitoring) SaaS platform.
Vivify Health is currently seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to manage development processes and lead development teams working on web-based applications. The applications are developed in JavaScript, AngularJS, C#, Web API, .NET, with a SQL Server-backend. As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle from requirements, to design, to development, to testing, and implementation.
The Manager of Software Engineering is accountable for the daily activities of Full Stack Application Developers and Quality Assurance Developers in their design, development, delivery, and maintenance of custom applications within the organization. The Manager promotes an environment consistent with industry best practices, ensures the right operational processes are in place and that we are designing software that can scale to the business needs. This role requires the Manager to mitigate team weaknesses and harness strengths to align with long term enterprise strategies and enforce standards while meeting or exceeding expectations set forth by Executive Management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides architecture and technology direction, leadership, and mentoring to development staff to follow approved architecture and security patterns, practices, and other relevant processes
  • Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, motivation, and guidance on personnel issues to developers
  • Manages and supports the operations of all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC) including research, requirements analysis, prototyping, design, programming, code reviews, technical documentation, and testing
  • Day-to-day quality and support of services and applications provided by developers to end users
  • Sets priorities and coordinates the activities and operations of developers among IT teams to help meet objectives and complete tasks on time and within budget
  • Implements processes that take proactive approaches to potential technical problems
  • Provides oversight and review of technical designs and project plans for development projects
  • Fosters a positive development environment promoting creativity and innovation
  • Provides technical information required for the preparation of accurate annual department budgets that ensure timely response to business partner needs
  • Performs analysis of and makes recommendations for the improvement of existing information systems and performs ongoing reviews of new technologies and industry standards to assess the feasibility of their potential deployment within the organization
  • Work together with the Director of Software Development and Product Owner to plan and execute project(s), ensure that team has appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that project remains on target to meet deadlines
  • Evolve the existing software system applications and architecture in various areas as needed
  • Help developers resolve both technical problems as well as human resources issues
  • Monitor individual employees' performance
  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience using Microsoft technologies, including, but not limited to: ASP.NET (WebForms, WebAPI, MVC), C#, Visual Studio (Web, Console, and Library projects), T-SQL
  • Experience managing a team of 6+ developers
  • Solid understanding of complex concepts related to software architecture, data structures and programming practices
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations in an Agile environment

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
