The role
We are looking for a Engineering Manager who is passionate about delivering software that makes other software developers efficient and productive. This is a high impact role to define the basic tools and processes that support developer velocity at SoFi.
From a technical skill set perspective, you must have experience with excellent engineering platforms and how they operate. You must have a great sense for simple, scalable solutions that engineers will love. We are looking for your ability to lead a team and to implement and support solutions for our developers that are highly available and scalable. You will work to better our ability to scale our engineering teams.
What you’ll do:
- Shape the vision for platforms and tools enabling our engineers and engineering teams to scale
- Own team building and management, including hiring and team performance.
- Lead the development and testing of our developer tools and services
- Deliver high quality solutions for our teams in a regulated environment
- Mentor engineers, support the technical culture, and grow the team
- Communicate with project leads, product and program managers and our software developers
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s Degree, in a technical field
- 1+ years management experience or experience leading a team
- 8+ years’ experience in a Software Engineering role or combination of education and experience.
- Understanding and a passion for cloud native technologies, deployment systems like Kubernetes, CI/CD, and creating self-service platforms.
- Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done
- Sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with managing and configuring monitoring tools, such as DataDog and Elastic Search/ELK.
- Experience with Python, Java, Kotlin, Spring or similar
- Building and scaling microservices
