Job Description

We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead Procore’s Communication Tools Product Engineering team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building our core construction collaboration products that enable construction professionals that improve efficiency by connecting the field and office for real-time visibility. You will work closely with peers in product management and UX/Design to manage a complex roadmap of customer-facing products, features, and platform capabilities.

This position will have a unique opportunity to be close to our customers and innovate solutions to unique problems that will have a broad impact across the construction industry. You will have an opportunity to build end-to-end customer experiences in addition to building innovative and scalable services and solutions that enable future growth and success for Procore’s platform.

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will have ownership over our existing product portfolio and will ensure it continues to meet the needs of Procore’s customers while maintaining a high-quality bar. Success in this role will require you to lead a team of skilled software engineers, including planning ahead for future product needs and ensuring your team and their technical architecture is enabled for future growth. This will require you to mentor Junior, Senior, and Staff level front-end, back-end, and full-stack developers.

This position reports into Director of Engineering for Project Management Quality and Safety product and will have an option to be based in either our Carpinteria, CA office, Austin, TX office, or be fully remote. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you’ll do:

  • Work cross-functionally with your counterparts in product management and UX to build our product roadmap and engineering execution plan

  • Collaborate with leadership to set short-term and long-term goals and strategies that drive excellence and product quality for Procore's most beloved and highest impact products

  • Contribute to Procore's technical architecture and product design

  • Mentor and coach your team and the broader organization

  • Identify opportunities and manage your team to successfully deliver our top product initiatives

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years total experience as a Software Engineer

  • 2+ years of experience supervising and managing full-stack software development teams

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • You value people over process and emphasize a culture of respect

  • You value building relationships with others and earning respect by taking ownership and empowering your team and co-workers to take ownership

  • Experience working across counterparts in Product Management, UX/Design, and other engineering teams to ship complex products and feature sets

  • Experience leading engineering teams with empathy, providing mentorship to other engineers, and contributing to their career development

  • Experience building software and services at scale using modern service-oriented architecture and domain-driven design

  • Experience in full-stack development of customer-facing products using the following technologies: Modern object-oriented languages and frameworks (e.g. Ruby, JavaScript, Typescript, React, Next.js). Native Cloud Infrastructure (e.g. AWS EC2, AWS RDS, DynamoDB), Scalable APIs (e.g. REST, gRPC or GraphQL)
