About the Role:
Uber is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to manage a team within the Money Engineering org. As a Money eng manager at Uber, your team will have a direct impact on the movement of money in and out of the company. This means that riders and eaters will experience timely and accurate collections, and partners and restaurants will receive timely and accurate disbursements. We are a cutting-edge payments engineering team empowered to further accelerate the incredible growth of Uber through money-movement innovations. What You'll Do:
As a manager within Money, you will have a significant impact on the evolution of Money's platform architecture and adoption across all lines of business at Uber. You will work with your team to build systems that stress scalability, accuracy, robustness, and audibility. You will work with dozens of critical consumers all around the company to ensure that their requirements are captured and met at the platform level. The experience you will gain will be outstanding and unmatched.
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience as a technical leader and manager for at least 4+ years.• Work with multi-functional teams and leading the planning and execution through a full product cycle• Passion about your team's mission and the self-starting personality to make things happen• Strong experience developing software as an engineer• Strong experience leading engineering teams• Significant experience building and operating critical high-scale distributed systems• Phenomenal management and team development skills: ability to set roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, mentor engineers, deliver frequent and visible feedback, help team members grow in their careers, and deliver results• Good software engineering methodology: substantial and deeply-rooted opinions about testing and code quality, ability to make sound quality/speed trade-offs• Outstanding technical skills in backend engineering: Uber managers can lead from the front when the situation calls for it
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with payments products and infrastructure• Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka, and distributed storage technologies like DynamoDB, Spanner, and Cassandra• Experience with Workflow engines like SWF, Cadence
