As the Manager, Dev Ops, you'll lead and mentor a team of engineers across multiple disciplines, including infrastructure and application engineers, database administrators, build and deploy engineers, release managers and network engineers. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Collaborate with Corporate IT on infrastructure and projects, such as disaster recovery, information security, network and provisioning
  • Act as the lead and liaison of the Development and Operations team, including working with third parties, to solve technical issues and improvements as required
  • Lead support for end users on logistics/transportation applications, including facilitation of issue resolution
  • Collaborate with corporate functions on the utilization and implementation of standard processes and procedures, and shared resources; identify, influence and lead adoption of best practices
  • Create and share system performance metrics and drive continuous improvement to system performance, uptime and stability
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other teams for system upgrades and enhancements
  • Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, testing and production environments


What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 5 years of technical experience in hands-on support of systems in a production and/or development environment
  • Experience with GCP or AWS, VMware, or similar cloud provider technologies
  • Strong background in Linux administration with a working understanding of script (PHP, Python, Perl, and/or Ruby)


It'd be great if you also have:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • Certifications in PMP or Agile Scrum, ITTL and/or other system administration certifications
  • 4 years of experience leading a development operations team
  • Experience with Ansible and VMware
  • Significant experience with continuous integration/deployment, such as TeamCity or Jenkins
  • Experience in project management, creating and delivering presentations and status updates
  • Docker experience
  • Experience with Windows and Linux administration; Bash Scripting; Git/GitHub, JIRA, SolarWinds and New Relic; PowerShell, Linux, JavaScript, SQL, Couchbase, RabbitMQ, ELK stack and Kafka
  • Experience working in an environment supporting multiple branch offices
  • Experience with industry-specific applications, including TMS platforms such as CargoWise, McLeod, Sylectus, etc.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in always-up, always-available services, as well as industry processes and support requirements
