Job Description
We are looking for an adaptable, skilled Linux and Android OS Software Engineer. Our team works on a variety of tasks, requiring a willingness to tackle whatever area of expertise our systems require.
On any given day, you may get the opportunity to work through all the layers of the Android software architecture including the Linux kernel, bootloaders, filesystems, cellular modem stack, Android framework, and applications.
This is more than a gig. People stay with our organization a long time because of the meaningful, interesting work that we do. Our engineers love a challenge, get to work in small teams and make systems do amazing things they were never designed to do.
We build custom products for a variety of customers. We are the experts; our customers come to us with their challenges, and they look to us to propose innovative solutions. Our engineers have tremendous latitude to problem solve, and are given the responsibility and accountability to implement solutions.
This is not a place where you do the same thing and work on the same code project to project. Flexibility and embracing whatever work comes your way is essential. Not much of what we do comes with a manual, and our kind of engineers like it that way.
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong skills in C. Java is also desirable.
Experience in Linux Kernel development, including device drivers
Robust understanding of embedded software development practices, including build configuration/compiling/linking, troubleshooting/debugging, and SCM (we use Git/Gerrit/Jenkins)
You will stand out from the pack if you also have skills in some of our other technology areas. If not, these are things you can expect to pick up as you go:
Agile development processes and tools (SCRUM, Jira, Jenkins CI)
Linux/Android security
Cryptography & Public Key Infrastructure
Qualcomm platform experience
Java and/or Kotlin Android application development experience
Material Design UI/UX experience
AWS experience
Cellular protocol experience, especially cellular technologies (LTE, UMTS, etc)
