WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Lead Data Visualization and User Experience expert to join the Data Products & Reporting team within the larger Commercial Analytics organization.

The person in this role will mentor a team of visualization developers who sit on multi-functional agile squads responsible for delivering data products to enhance decision making across Nike's Global functions. The candidate is an effective technologist, passionate about evolving toolsets, and approaches all new development empathetic to the user experience. You will implement and support the ongoing effort to use visualization standards, tool assessment methodologies, and training approach across squads.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Development of sophisticated data visualization and self-service data products that lead to improved performance and accomplishment of strategic and/or operational goals
  • Own relationships with diverse business partners to understand current and future customer and business needs, elicit platform requirements, and define relevant strategic questions
  • Develop and lead data visualization professionals responsible for building and deepening an integrated view of Nike's supply chain and consumers through data and analytics
  • Support and evolve standards for all cycles of visual product development including requirements, prototyping, code development, code/asset management and versioning, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Actively evaluate and continuously improve the approach, toolset, and implementation of visual analytics and reporting
  • Partner across data science and other functional teams to accelerate and use visualization strategies, data capabilities, and insights as part of the company's integrated data offense
  • Evolve analytics capabilities and champion visualization and dashboarding standard methodologies for UI/UX development, data quality, deployment, and sustainable maintenance, including fast, iterative experimentation and measurement

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As part of the Data Products and Reporting Visualization team led by the Director of Visualization and User Experience while partnering closely with Data Engineering and Enterprise Platform leaders. You will collaborate across our broader organization with business teams as well as other data, analytics and technology functions at Nike.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Technology, Computer Science or other related fields or combination of relevant education, experience and training
  • 5+ years of relevant experience developing dashboards, data visualizations, analytical reports, and self-service tools preferred
  • 2+ years leading or mentoring teams developing analytic tools, visual analytics, sophisticated analytics, or related practices Expert level proficiency in SQL preferred
  • High business acumen, with a passion for business reporting, analysis, and working with business intelligence tools and large amounts of data
  • In-depth experience in solving sophisticated problems through data and analytics, including providing insights that are logical, data driven, simple to understand and aligned to business goals
  • Experience working hand-in-hand with key partners (teams, portfolio managers, product or merchandising managers, leaders, etc.) to design and build data visualizations to support business performance and goals
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships across a multi-layered, fast moving, results-driven organization
  • Relevant experience in user-centered design and capturing and communicating user needs and coaching developers to promote these methods
  • Experience in navigating sophisticated business relationships while ensuring products are designed for optimal user experience and have measurable criteria for success
  • Expertise with visual analysis technologies such as Tableau, Domo, Power BI, SAS, QlikView, JavaScript, or similar tools
  • Knowledge developing in cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS; MPP, Big Data and NoSQL technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Hive, MongoDB, HBase, or Cassandra
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills - a visual and verbal storyteller who can guide and develop these skills across the team

Preferred skills

  • Expertise in data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and the ability to drive standard methodologies in data management and governance
  • Solid understanding of various database management systems like Oracle, MySQL, Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, or DB2, as well as proficiency in working with large data sets.
