This Opportunity

WSP USA is currently seeking a Lead Traffic Engineer in to join our thriving Regional Traffic Engineering practice! The successful candidate will have extensive experience in both public and private traffic engineering projects. This position could be located in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando or Tampa.

Your Impact

  • Extensive experience with traffic analysis, safety analysis, traffic impact studies and project management on projects throughout Florida
  • Ability to proficiently produce, manage and review traffic studies
  • Ability to oversee and direct project traffic/ITS engineering project tasks and monitor project progress for technical accuracy
  • Ability to build and maintain good client relationship. Act as a representative at project meetings and coordination with project sponsors or clients. Possess good presentation and marketing skills and participate in business development activities
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with microsimulation software like VISSIM and Corsim
  • Ability to work well with other related disciplines and coordinate production activities for timely completion and within resource budgets
  • Willing to work in a team-oriented environment and ability to manage staff
  • Experience and working knowledge of PD&E Manual, FDOT Traffic Analysis Hanbook and FDOT Project Traffic Forecasting Forecasing
  • Working experience or familiarity with the SERPM model and development of project traffic forecasting
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures


Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • 7 years of progressive experience in both public and private traffic engineering projects
  • Current Florida P.E. registration or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience with project and staff management
  • Well developed client management skills and experience participating in business development and project pursuits
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Civil Engineering is preferred
  • Current experience with FDOT projects
  • Experience with PD&E studies
  • Experience with microsimulation software
