We are seeking a Software Engineer with versatile skills in computer science, software architecture, algorithm design, and software development to help us advance the state of the art. The ideal Software Engineer will be curious and motivated to work within a team structure to develop technical solutions in a rapid prototyping and results-driven environment. We encourage Engineers who are comfortable jumping into new projects, including identifying key requirements, defining the solution / architecture, selecting the appropriate tools and technology stack for the job, prototyping, and implementing deliverable software and algorithms. Fluency in multiple high-level programming languages and proficiency in a Linux environment are a must. Experience with standard networking libraries, SQL/No-SQL databases, message queue technologies, and containers / virtual machine technologies such as Docker or QEMU is valuable. Strong candidates will also have experience with advanced algorithms and distributed systems.
We expect the tools and techniques we develop and deliver to meet high standards of quality, maintainability, and reuse. Therefore, experience with sound software engineering principles and software unit test methodologies is valuable.
Responsibilities:
- Architecting novel software solutions that span research, development, and deployed production
- Working on / leading small research teams to develop innovative software prototypes
- Identifying promising algorithmic approaches to open ended problems
- Delivering high-quality software in a team environment
Requirements:
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
- 12 years of related experience
- Proficient in multiple high-level programming languages e.g., Python, C/C++, Scala, or Rust
- Proficient building and deploying software
- Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences
Education:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred:
- Active Security Clearance
- Understanding of computer and operating system architecture, such as file systems, memory/process/thread management, device drivers and/or loadable kernel modules
- Experience developing research concepts from proposal through implementation and transition
- Ability to manage scope and requirements on a multidisciplinary team
