The Lead Software Engineer will provide guidance and leadership to more junior team members while designing & developing tools that will be used across Cox Automotive. As part of the Common Communications space, you are responsible for designing and delivering a best-in-class platform that will power current and future greenfield applications across Cox Automotive.
The Lead Software Engineer will write and maintain code within applications and systems to implement capabilities and features, improve performance and maintainability, while reducing technical debt in alignment with product and technology roadmaps. The Lead Software Engineer plays a role in Agile planning, providing advice and guidance, and monitoring emerging trends.
Responsibilities:

  • Works with Product Management to understand the challenges that customers and end users face in their day-to-day work and partner with them to design viable solutions.
  • Recommends viable solutions to processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of the team and reduce technical debt.
  • Understands technical architecture and writes software and automated tests that are aligned with agreed upon standards.
  • Influence industry-based models for the development of new technology applications.
  • Actively works with less experienced software engineers providing technical guidance and oversight.
  • Foresees capacity requirements for component usage and identifies limitations.
  • Design, code, test, correct and document programs and scripts from agreed specifications, and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Take part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
  • Manage application enhancements to improve business performance.
  • Provides input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning.
  • Provides ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products.
  • Actively participates in the engineering community, staying up to date on new software technologies and best practices and shares insights with others in the organization.


Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field
  • Proficiency with C# and .NET
  • Proficiency with the AWS suite. Including but not limited to: compute, serverless, storage, databases, containers, content delivery, queueing, etc
  • Proficiency with React
  • Proficiency with Relational Databases
  • Proficiency with GitHub
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions
  • Familiarity with k6
