We are excited to consider a remote engineer for this role! Remote team members will be expected to work out of their home office.

Your Opportunity

New Relic helps engineers resolve the most complex challenges in running software by offering the world's best source of telemetry data and instant observability solutions. We are laying the foundation for anyone in the engineering world to instrument their systems in a simple, automated, intelligent, and extensible manner to get telemetry data and insights. We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our instrumentation engineering team responsible for the development and deployment of New Relic's observability solutions on multiple platforms, integrations, and architectures!

What You'll Do

In this engineering role, you will develop a consistent set of tools, utilities, templates, and integrations that enable developers to efficiently embed New Relic into DevOps workflows, employ configuration as code techniques, and establish a point of view through implemented best practices. You will work with distributed teams to improve the success rate of installing New Relic and making it easier for our customers to experience the value.

You will need to harness your excellent written and verbal communication skills because we have a globally distributed development organization with teams spanning many time zones. The best way to keep all those teams in sync is through written communications.

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

  • 8+ years of large scale software development with recent coding experience in two or more modern programming languages
  • Experience creating developer-focused products, such as SDKs, CLIs, APIs, tools, or platforms
  • Use a variety of languages - Ruby, Python, C#, Java, Node, or Go some weeks
  • A collaborative working style that includes colleagues on significant decisions and leads to shared code ownership
  • Knowledge of continuous integration/test/deployment tools and methodology
  • Ability to work with heterogeneous systems and seek new environments you may not have encountered before
  • Keep up to date with technologies - AWS, Azure, GCP, serverless, Docker, Kubernetes among others
  • Configuration management and orchestration tools like Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet
  • Excellent root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience


Nice-to-have:

  • Experience working with or building GraphQL schemas
  • Experience in working with open source projects
