Job Description

As a Lead DevOps Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking, Banking & Wealth Management team, you will play a crucial role in the platform architecture of the application's Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment. Your responsibilities will include enhancing Infrastructure as a Code (IaaC) and containerization, expanding CI/CD observability, and introducing new features to internal applications. You will collaborate with product management and user experience teams to address functional and non-functional requirements, and deploy cloud-native applications to various testing environments.
Job responsibilities

  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Troubleshooting and identify and mitigate difficult and complex technical problems and the coding skills to resolve those problems permanently through engineering and automation.
  • Work as part of a global team to achieve project and organizational goals.
  • Create high quality software using Agile/Scrum development practices, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Groovy, etc).
  • Manage Incident and Problem management processes, being accountable for resolution, root cause analysis and technology and business reporting and communication.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Focus in DevOps/SRE.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Strong CI/CD pipeline experience with Jenkins; With experience using and developing software build scripting: Maven, Gradle etc.
  • Hands-on with Configuration Management (CM) tools such as Ansible, Chef and Puppet with strong knowledge and experience in Python, Javascript, Groovy and NodeJS.
  • Strong observability experience: white & black box monitoring, telemetry collection, and data analysis tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, DataDog Kafka, Splunk, etc. along with server OS scripting, automation, and containers and container orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Familiarity with best practices for infrastructure design for applications using Microservices, APIs, Big Data, and more.
  • Public/Private Cloud Experience AWS, Terraform,Pivotal Cloud Foundry plus hands-on experience with Linux and Cloud technologies.


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Have strong communication skills and be able to mentor and educate others on DevOps / SRE principles and practices.
  • Exhibit an infrastructure / config / everything as code mindset and have participated in Test Driven Development or Business Driven Development environment.
