You will be a part of the Beckman Hematology Software Development group and report to the Senior Director Software Development responsible to provide technical leadership to the group engaged in product development for Beckman Coulter's Hematology product line. We are open to remote work from any continental U.S based major city with access to an international airport.

In this role, you will have the following opportunities, but are not limited to:

  • Within the overall product architecture and technology stack analyzes needs for next generation hematology software and maps them to a coherent architecture containing a mixture of third party and home grown elements. Communicate a vision to both executives and hands on engineers. Stay up to date with latest technology trends.
  • You will be expected to develop proofs of concepts as well as contribute hands on development effort when needed.
  • As an amount of the expected work will be outsourced development , there are the opportunities for defining, initiating and managing projects with third party consultancies / partnerships.
  • This work relates to next generation products based on image processing where the strategy for image handling from acquisition, to storage, to retrieval, to analysis to backup & archiving both locally on instruments & in the cloud needs to be defined.
  • Lead a software/embedded engineering team that develops software for commercial products and for in-house research in an agile environment
  • Drive development, design, and implementation of software and embedded applications
  • Engages with program managers and cross-functional project teams, technical leaders and executives to communicate projects status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making
  • Execute against the Software Development Lifecycle using industry best practices, metrics for measuring and improving product quality
  • Collaborate with peer senior technical leaders other disciplines to produce coherent, timely, quality, compliant solutions
  • Inspire continuous improvement through new industry ideas, technologies, and processes
  • Collaborates with a global ecosystem of peers and partners in meeting objectives

    The essential requirements of the job include:
  • 12 - 15+ years of experience working through the design, development, release cycle, and delivery of software products in a regulated environment (FDA, DoD, FAA), to market including a minimum of 5 years' experience in technical leadership role.
  • Hands on knowledge of C/C++ and .Net is REQUIRED.
  • Hands on experience working with 3rd party vendors and offshore teams REQUIRED.
  • Advanced leadership skills including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.

    It would be a plus if you also possess:
  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript, image analysis, and cloud application development along with related frameworks is PREFERRED.
  • Experience working on Cloud platforms, to include Azure, AWS, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile software development.
  • Leading embedded software solutions development.
  • Ability to work well with people and be both highly motivated and motivating.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment where continuous improvement is a way of life
  • Working on VxWorks and Linux operating systems
  • CAN, TCP/IP, RS232 communication protocols
  • Exposure to current cybersecurity best practices , IEC 62304 Software standard
