The Optum Telemetry team is looking for a passionate and inquisitive software engineer to join them in continuing their mission of designing, building, and supporting one of the largest telemetry platforms in the world. This internally developed and open-source system collects, maintains, and visualizes the operational telemetry data across multiple sources and data types within the UnitedHealth Group ecosystem, as well as its many subsidiaries. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for building and supporting infrastructure for a platform that is currently ingesting millions of metric points per second from hundreds of thousands of clients, as we look to continue to solve the challenges involved with scaling it to support billions of metric points of data per second.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participate in 24/7 on call support
• Maintain Optum Telemetry stack
• Manage/maintain agent installs on Optum Infra

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional IT experience (system administration, software development, or a combination), with steadily increasing responsibilities
• 4+ years of experience designing and building highly distributed, reliable systems
• 4+ years of coding experience in Ruby (Python, Go, etc. are acceptable)
• 2+ years of experience with collecting and storing metrics/telemetry data (Telegraf, InfluxDB, Prometheus, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience managing Infrastructure via Code (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.)
• Experience planning and supporting +99.99% availability against critical applications in production

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
