Our team works cross functionally with the Vehicle Systems Product Interface, GA Processing and Execution Teams as well as the manufacturing plants to ensure overall GA 4 wall direct labor planning is delivered. This includes overall vehicle processing, early line balance development, application of lean concepts and ensuring IE deliverables are attained (MPH, %VA, headcount targets & MCPU).

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Mentor, train and develop IE contract resources to support program launch
  • Ensure direct IE input to New Vehicle Program studies regarding manpower & processing requirements.
  • Maintain Lean Measurable Scorecard for new program development and track Lean Metrics
  • Champion the early development of new program line balance plans
  • Support integration activities with Strategic Suppliers and the Plant IE teams.
  • Apply Lean concepts to new programs and facility projects to enable the attainment of benchmark productivity targets.
  • Apply IE tools for operation analysis, including the use of Assembly Processing System (APS), Ergonomic Line Balance (ELBA), Vehicle Assembly Standard Time Data (STDS), Man-Machine charts and Throughput Improvement Process (TIP)
  • Ensure plans and countermeasures are in place to achieve the IE deliverables (MPH, VA%, rough line balance, headcount, etc) throughout the GVDP.
  • Participate in Virtual build and IVER events to understand new program details.
  • Build strong working relationship with plant personnel and understand plant processes, projects, productivity initiatives, metrics, etc.
  • Support Deep Dive activities to ensure line balance process is aligned with tooling, conveyors, controls, and material plans.
  • Support resolution of ergonomic issues identified and tracked.
  • Execute Homeroom IE RASI and Master Dot responsibilities by effectively engaging IEs in other GM global regions.


Additional Description
Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Assembly Plant experience in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or related Engineering experience.
  • Experience with assembly plant processes & systems (Body, Paint or General Assembly).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Processes and GMS principles and elements.
  • High level of initiative and flexibility.
  • Ability to teach and train others including coaching/facilitation skills.
  • Ability to gather information, organize and make presentations to Senior Leadership.
  • Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours to support global calls and workshops.
  • Proficient level of computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office products).
  • Model behaviors that reflect GM's Global Leadership Framework.


Basic Preferred:

  • 5 Years Vehicle Assembly Industrial Engineering experience (Body, Paint and General Assembly).
  • Future program launch/execution experience.
  • Working knowledge of work measurement techniques (STDS) & the Assembly Processing System (APS).
  • Indirect labor experience.


Education and Training:
Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with major in Engineering or equivalent training and/or work experience.


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related fields.
