The Opportunity
The Mainframe Network Engineer will be responsible for providing support and review for TCP/IP VTAM and SNA/SNI, APVN for the OpenText Mainframe environment. This individual must understand thoroughly of current design with hands-on technical experience. The role will also help support the development of innovative solutions for OpenText's Mainframe Environment.

You Are Great AT• Providing primary network systems programming support for VTAM and TCP/IP in an SNA/SNI, APPN (Enterprise Extender), and TCP/IP Wide Area Network (WAN)• Creating, installing and maintaining VTAM definitions• Creating, installing, and maintaining TCP/IP configuration definitions for all TCP/IP components including TELNET and TCP/IP SMTP• Creating, installing, and maintaining TCP/IP OSA configuration definitions to support OSA QDIO failover situations using TCP/IP configuration methods and the OSA/SF Facility • Creating, installing, and maintaining NCP definitions• Network engineering support for other software products (NetView, Connect Direct, TPX, NDM)• Providing secondary systems programming support for z/OS and third party (OEM and ISV) products• SMPE and non-SMPE installations and customizations of other OEM and ISV third party products• Validating third-party software products• Documenting installation changes and procedures• Creating TCP/IP configurations for migration from z/OS V1R7 to z/OS V1R9• Also responsible for restoring z/OS Communications Server 1.7, and system-level software at a Disaster Recovery site.

What It Takes• Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or related.• Minimum of 10 years related to mainframe Network Engineering. Equivalent work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.• Extensive Knowing of TCP/IP in an SNA/SNI, APPN (Enterprise Extender), and TCP/IP Wide Area Network (WAN)• Extensive Knowing of Creating, installing, and maintaining VTAM definitions• Extensive Knowing of Creating, installing, and maintaining TCP/IP configuration definitions for all TCP/IP components including TELNET and TCP/IP SMTP• Extensive Knowing in Creating, installing, and maintaining TCP/IP OSA configuration definitions to support OSA QDIO failover situations using TCP/IP configuration methods and the OSA/SF Facility • Creating, installing, and maintaining NCP definitions• Extensive Knowing of Network engineering support for other software products (NetView, Connect Direct, TPX, NDM)• P Extensive Knowing in providing secondary systems programming support for z/OS and third party (OEM and ISV) products• Extensive Knowing of SMPE and non-SMPE installations and customizations of other OEM and ISV third party products• Validating third-party software products on the mainframe• Documenting installation changes and procedures• Extensive Knowing of Creating TCP/IP configurations for migration from z/OS V1R7 to z/OS V1R9• Also responsible for restoring z/OS Communications Server 1.7, and system-level software at a Disaster Recovery site.
