Hybrid : This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite at least 3 days per week.
Vehicle Infotainment Systems are a rapidly developing area of automotive engineering. The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) is the new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including intuitive infotainment systems that enhance the traveler experience.
Lead Infotainment System In-Vehicle Feature Integration Engineer
In this role you'll lead the Infotainment system vehicle features integration team of embedded software on GM next generation vehicles. This includes evaluation of feature readiness, test plan development, execution, and issue identification and resolution. You'll provide technical direction and leadership to engineering support personnel, test execution teams, and suppliers. You'll support actual integration execution as needed by the team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead software integration efforts for automotive infotainment systems for vehicle features supported by infotainment systems such as trailering, energy, OTA.
- Plan and schedule cadence-based integration test cycles for manual and automation execution test team.
- Report vehicle feature integration status to leadership.
- Work with Software Verification teams and GM Validation to provide integration status based on entrance and exit criteria.
- Work with partners (Software Development and Systems Engineering) to understand and support the implementation of vital inter-ECU communication interfaces.
- Responsible for crafting test plans invoking connected features to verify inter-ECU communication.
- Assist in developing automated test scripts using automation platforms for Infotainment Systems, mainly Android and QNX based.
- Lead all aspects of manual and automated integration test execution, logging and tracking defects aligning SW development process for different ECUs, and support defect reproduction efforts.
- Co-ordinate infotainment subsystem ECU update activities.
- Support actual system integration testing as needed to meet program execution timing.
- Participate in software quality drive trips organized by Infotainment Program Management and QRD.
- Support projection certification rides for different radios, automation requests and vehicle level testing efforts.
- Contribute in AVSS testing for high priority defects needing reproduction.
- Build orthogonal array-based robustness test plans working with QRD, Systems Engineering and other teams with focused scope
- Work within the SAFe Agile framework to resolve feature scope, priority, and cadence
Additional Description
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or related degree
- 3+ years experience and demonstrated proficiency with infotainment or telematics in systems engineering, validation, testing or release functions
- Proven understanding of Vehicle Electrical Architecture and Subsystem/Features in the Infotainment domain
- Experience with debugging GMLAN/CAN, Automotive Ethernet vehicle communication system or CAN based monitoring tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or related
- Validation and verification experience in Sanity, Functional, Smoke, Stability, Stress Performance, Ad-hoc.
- Experience in using IBM rational tools like RTC, RQM, DOORS including CI tools Jenkins, Artifactory.
- Experience developing automation tools in Python and Java or any other language
- Ability to handle complex problems and propose solutions
- Ability to conceptualize and think broadly
- High level of oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently and effectively with others
