Eaton's Battery CoE accelerate the company's growth through the development of battery platforms that are battery-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies and tools that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products with energy storage.

Eaton's Battery Center of Excellence (CoE) is currently seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC location and is open to a Hybrid work schedule.

Position Overview:

The Lead Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for firmware development, implementation, and validation for battery platforms. This individual will also be responsible for driving the use and adoption of model-based techniques during the NPI process. This includes the use of Model in the Loop (MIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) methodologies during the design and validation.

In this function you will:

  • Architect and design robust embedded firmware for battery platforms.
  • Implement, test, and troubleshoot BMS firmware.
  • Plans and performs firmware development and validation on HIL and lab.
  • Create technical reports and presentations.
  • Initiate and lead design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstorming.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related engineering experience in the development of firmware for energy storage, power conversion, or battery management system product.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in embedded software architecture and/or C/C++ programming.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with development tools such as compilers and debuggers.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with DSP, FPGA, or microcontrollers, and standard peripheral components.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with real-time operating systems, digital signal processing, and/or digital control.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in the development of battery management system FW.
  • Working knowledge of Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) HW and SW.
  • Experience in developing and implementing control algorithms with auto-code generation tools (e.g., Simulink Coder).
  • Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members.
