Lead Enterprise Strategy Architect
Objectives:

• Define and evolve Northwestern Mutual's Enterprise Target State Architecture in collaboration with architecture subject areas: Business, Application, Data, Technology and Security.
• Use Enterprise Target State Architecture to both frame and craft major technology related strategies and vice versa.
• Assist driving out highest value and broadest impact technology related strategic directions, decisions and top down architectures optimized to business goals.

Key Knowledge and Abilities to be Successful
Knowledge

• Broad understanding of NM business ecosystem, application ecosystem, and App/Data/Tech/Security concepts
• Understanding of certain technologies to vital levels of detail as the situation demands
• Proven understanding of decisioning and problem solving methods
• Ability and desire to research and perform self study to acquire knowledge as the situation demands
• Ability to use the knowledge of others

Abilities

• Ability to lead a cross field team through strategy and architecture development
• Shown experience building and working with technology conceptual and logical models - capabilities, blueprints, information models, process models, principles, etc.
• Ability to build out and/or map concepts to C4 Level 1 & Level 2 logical models
• Critical Thinking/Analysis:
• Ability to align with organizational goals - Principle development
• Ability to identify and optimize for factors involved.
• Ability to develop and work through decisioning models (ie, SOC, TEI, Hubbard) or problem solving methods (ie, A3, DMAIC, 5 step)
• Ability to apply their knowledge and demonstrate the knowledge of others to develop optimized Future State models and roadmaps
• Ability to influence/move the organization without authority
• Ability to cultivate common understanding and convergence of thinking across the organization
• Ability to resolve material differences of opinions
• Ability to communicate and influence senior level leaders
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership up through Director/VP level
• Ability to influence engineer/architect roles through Director/VP

Successful Individual in this role must have the capacity for and enjoy:

• High Amounts of Broad Learning / Improving -- The strategy, decision, top-down architecture requires broad knowledge covering a variety of technology/business situations and improvement of personal abilities and the application thereof as the focus/situation calls for
• High Amounts of Broad Cross Organization Interaction and Thought Leadership -- The broadness of the work involves converging and weaving common understanding and conviction across multiple areas of business, product and technology given the situation
