Lead DevOps Engineer

As a Lead DevOps Engineer in Cloud Enablement you will be working in the nucleus of Northwestern Mutual's Cloud Paradigm. You will enable developer productivity in support of business objectives by:
- Assisting development teams to apply automation patterns
- Helping teams migrate to AWS, acting as their main point of contact from a Cloud perspective.
- Creating patterns of automation for CI/CD, infrastructure deployment, maintenance, monitoring, security and compliance as well as partnering with other enterprise teams, using industry and enterprise best practices.
- Continuously improve patterns and workflow by collecting and responding to feedback.
- Align Cloud Platform Onboarding and Adoption Initiatives for the next 6 to 12 months out
- Proactively learn emerging platforms and related technology
- Ability to solve complex technical issues and enable/teach peers to be self sufficient
- Ability to provide thought leadership throughout the local work division
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of professional IT experience, preferably a highly regulated complex environment. This experience should be multi-disciplinary crossing Infrastructure, Databases, Security, Software Development, Networking, Application Architecture.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience with Linux and Windows. Understanding how to install, configure and troubleshoot. Very comfortable with CLI.
- At least 4 years with AWS. AWS Associate or Professional level certifications or the ability to acquire them will be necessary.
- 4 years experience with integration of n-tier applications (i.e. REST, DNS, HTTP, SSL, Encryption, Authentication, Load Balancing)
- 4 years experience with CI/CD concepts and tools (i.e. GitLab, testing concepts, Change Management, blue/green, infrastructure as code)
- 4 years experience with infrastructure automation tools or coding/scripting (i.e. ansible, terraform, python, JavaScript, Node)
- Creative problem solving skills
- Proactively learn emerging platforms and related technology
- Ability to solve technical issues and enable/teach peers to be self sufficient
- Ability to provide thought leadership throughout the local work division
- Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environment
