What's the role?
In this position you will be an integral part of a centralized DevOps capabilities team focused on enabling consistent DevOps capabilities across our engineering organization which supports our Wealth management, CRM, and Career Distribution, Illustrations, and Planning Experien business areas. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that will be highly visible on critical business applications. This role will also lead a newly formed DevOps COE.
The Lead DevOps engineer reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and works in partnership with our DevOps enablement team, with our engineering teams and with senior leadership. This role provides actionable thought leadership across these teams. She/He/They will challenge how we approach DevOps practices to ensure the appropriate utilization and effectiveness of our capabilities. This role will have direct oversight of setting technology solution directions, understanding business capabilities, carrying out POC's and be a core influencer of our DevOps strategy. This individual will also be a participant in a newly formed solutions engineering group.
Enable developer productivity in support of business objectives by:

  • Partnering with other enterprise teams on emerging best practices, patterns and technology.
  • Creating patterns of automation for CI/CD, infrastructure deployment, maintenance, monitoring, security and compliance using industry and enterprise best practices.
  • Continuously improve patterns and workflow by collecting and responding to feedback and key metrics.
  • • Align DevOps initiatives to business priorities


What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6-8 years of professional experience required
  • 6 years of professional IT experience • 4 years experience with at least one OS/hosting platform (i.e. Linux, Windows, AWS, Kube)
  • 2 years experience with integration of n-tier applications (i.e. DNS, HTTP, SSL, Encryption, Authentication)
  • 4 years experience with CI/CD concepts and tools (i.e. GitLab, testing concepts, change management, blue/green, infrastructure as code)
  • 4 years experience with infrastructure automation tools or coding/scripting (i.e. ansible, terraform, python, JavaScript, PowerShell)
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Proactively learn emerging platforms and related technology
  • Ability guide others to solve complex technical issues
  • Ability to provide thought leadership throughout the department
  • Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environment
