Position Overview
As the lead Controls Engineer, your main function will include leading controls engineering activities for the smooth functioning of all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing support systems in the plant. This work requires leading the controls group to solve, maintain and repair activities of plant equipment; ability to make decisions based on established tools, applications, and procedures; This role may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
Responsibilities:
- Your work will involve sophisticated manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow up to resolve safety, quality, and efficiency issues.
- Skilled in PLC, HMI, Robot, Weld, Torque and Test control systems; Manufacturing Plant Floor Systems like Production Monitoring, Routing & Tracking and Error Proofing, Torque and Weld Monitoring; Equipment, tooling, facilities, and alternatives.
- Knowledgeable in sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary for supporting production.
- Identify and upskill the controls engineers' and skilled trades (electricians) technical skills.
- Training others in: Additive Manufacturing Equipment - 3D Printing and Predictive Equipment - Temperature/Thermal Cameras, Vibration Sensing Equipment, Laser Alignment Equipment.
- Collection and storage of documentation (lock-out maps, electrical drawings) of manufacturing equipment for compliance and quick recovery.
- You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
- Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering/Engineering related field
- 5 plus years of experience in PLC Programming and Manufacturing Plant Floor Systems - like Production Monitoring, Routing & Tracking and Error Proofing, Torque and Weld Monitoring.
- Proficient knowledge in Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, Fanuc Robots
- Experience with Diagnosis process equipment failures.
- Solid understanding of process equipment operations, sequence, error proofing and diagnostics capabilities.
- Knowledge of drives/motion control, fastening tools, controllers, barcode scanning/printing, and vision systems.
Additional Description Preferred:
- Electrical Engineering Degree
- Management/Leadership experience within a Manufacturing/Assembly Plant environment
- Knowledge of automated welding and adhesive/sealing dispense.
- Knowledge of 3D Printing and Maxmio.
- Detailed knowledge of GMS Standards/Systems
