About the role
Come help us to build the best Open Source Application Experience platform in the cloud!
The Kibana Core team, responsible for the architecture, tech stack, plugin system, and other core infrastructure in Kibana is key for its success!
We lay the groundwork for other teams to build end-user applications and features. You will work on critical projects and initiatives that will require you to partner closely across all Elastic groups and communities.
What You Will Be Doing
Work on Kibana, one of the most popular and largest JavaScript open-source projects. You will help people worldwide do phenomenal things with their data.
Together with the team, we'll define how developers build apps within the Kibana platform.
You will collaborate with our most expert engineers in Elastic and our open source community with architectural proposals and design reviews to tackle tough problems with simplicity.
Be a key contributor to the performance, stability, and scalability workgroups.
Some of the projects that you will contribute to are the Kibana plugin system and its ecosystem, our custom persistence & authorization layer built on top of Elasticsearch, the localization framework crafted to scale with any number of rendering technologies, and the elastic in-house telemetry stack, among others.

What You Bring Along
- Strong design and coding skills in JavaScript
- Backend Node.js experience
- Proficiency in JavaScript MVC frameworks, especially React.js
- Principal-level engineering skills with a record track experience developing scalable, performing apps. Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to design and iterate the build and CI/CD pipeline processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Be able to lead technical discussions and reach consensus.
Bonus Points
- Experience with a statically typed language (e.g., TypeScript, Flow, Golang, Java, etc.)
- Record of inheriting, defining, & scaling existing medium-to-large scale projects
- Familiarity with an extensibility component/plugin system
- Experience using or running the Elastic Stack and Kibana
- Familiarity with DDD and “onion” architecture concepts.
