Apprenticeship: Program Overview
Cognizant Apprenticeship Program is an official registered apprenticeship recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL). Every graduate of a Registered Apprenticeship program receives a nationally recognized credential from the DOL.
During the apprenticeship duration, you will be required to complete specific learning hours and on-the-job training that has been outlined to ensure you are developing the skills and competencies essential to the role.
You will be able to learn and grow and your own pace, but we expect most apprentices will complete their learning within the allotted 12-months. Once you graduate and receive your certificate from our apprenticeship program, you will be eligible for reclassification from Programmer Analyst to Associate based on work experience, technical assessment, performance evaluation, and client engagement. Apprenticeship programs keep pace with advancing technologies and innovations in training and human resource development through the complete involvement of employer in the educational process. The term of the apprenticeship is approximately 1 year of on-the-job learning (OJL), supplemented by approximately 480 hours of related instruction during the term of the apprenticeship program.

Cognizant is looking for talented individuals to join our Enterprise Engineering team as Java Full Stack Jr. Engineer. An apprenticeship is about learning and growing. Therefore, we are seeking candidates who have the drive and eagerness to learn; ability to work independently and collaborate as part of team; and can demonstrate strong verbal skills, attention to details, and troubleshooting skills. Our goal as a team is to build a uniquely fun and growth-oriented culture of thinkers.
Successful Candidates Should Possess the Following Qualifications:• Minimum Associates degree or military equivalent with 5+ years of experience OR Bachelor degree and 2+ years work experience• Basic programming knowledge • Experience with HTML, CSS and JS• Strong interest in learning modern technologies • Commitment to launching a career in the tech industry• Strong problem solving and analytical skills• Strong interpersonal and communication skills• Ability to work collaboratively with global project teams• Must be local to the Charlotte, NC region• Unfortunately, due to the nature of this position Cognizant cannot provide sponsorship for work authorization (including participation in the OPT/F1 program) for this role.

As a Java Full Stack Jr. Engineer Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work on complex emerging technologies for some of the world's leading companies. You will build technical and professional skills through robust training sessions with technology professionals across North America. We also provide mentoring where you will connect with peers and build your network.
