The Illustrations platform is part of our Field Experience (FX) suite of tools that ensure a positive experience for our financial representatives. This platform empowers our financial representatives to demonstrate the value of our products as part of the planning process. Every new and existing customer sees the results of this tool before deciding on a Northwestern Mutual product. Our team needs software engineers devoted to delivering a great user experience, keeping our users and their goals in mind.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Applies engineering best practices in order to analyze and develop software solutions.
- Develops software using established development and continuous integration practices.
- Uses established monitoring and automation processes, such as Dynatrace and GitLab pipelines. Experience with user experience monitoring is a plus.
- Conducts code evaluations of team members, interacting with the team while keeping our Culture of Respect in mind.
- Participates in setting team standards and best practices in conjunction with Northwestern Mutual's goals and values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, completion of boot camp, or equivalent experience.
- 2-3+ years of professional experience with JavaScript front-end development using React.js.
- Experience working on large-scale web applications using REST APIs.
- Experience using agile methodology working in an agile team environment.
- Basic knowledge of AWS services such as S3 and Lambda.
- Familiar with GraphQL or a similar graph database.
- Capable of communicating between product, engineering, and the business.
- Manages own time to meet objectives.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, ownership mentality, and continuous learning approach.
- Able to mentor new team members, including college/high school interns and associate engineers.
