Position Specific Description

This position is an integral part of our Voice & Video Engineering team. Our team designs, implements, and maintains the enterprise voice & video infrastructure for NextEra Energy and its subsidiaries - Florida Power & Light (FPL) and Nextera Entergy Resources (NEER).

If you are technical and have experience using voice and video products from Cisco and have a deep understanding of IP telephony, you may be the perfect fit for our team. The position reports directly to the IT Voice & Video Services Manager with work location available in Miami for the right candidate. In this position, you will work with some of the brightest minds in the clean energy and utility industry as they work to ensure NextEra is the largest and most capable clean energy provider in North America and the best electric utility in the world.

Job Overview

  • This role contributes to the design, implementation, and support of our voice & video systems and infrastructure.
  • This role's primary area of focus is to implement & support the FPL Transmission voice technology, which includes Atos Hipath 4000 and Openscape voice phone systems, Xpert Turret and Genesys IVR.
  • Employees in this role work directly with management, project managers, customers, and business leaders to ensure that projects are successfully delivered on time and within budget. In addition, they act as an escalation point for issues encountered in our 24x7 environment to ensure the availability and performance of our systems are maintained.
  • Employees also ensure that all documentation is accurate and up to date and our infrastructure remains secure.



Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understand advances and changes in the technology industry and work directly with equipment manufacturers to assess new technologies and recognize how changes are applied to provide solutions to our business environment, to increase availability, reliability, business agility, or reduce operating costs
  • Analyze the business requirements of new projects requested by the FPL or NEER subsidiaries and help design voice solutions to support their implementation.
  • Work with customers and vendors to design and implement Transmission phone system configurations/upgrades and provide recommendations on the equipment that will deliver the best experience.
  • Provide support for the phone system to ensure this critical system remains operational
  • Under limited supervision, contribute in a hands-on manner with the implementation of voice infrastructure
  • Create as-built design documentation for all new projects and network engineering efforts and ensure they remain up to date as the network evolves
  • Maintain the availability and integrity of our enterprise network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, network security infrastructure, and voice transport infrastructure
  • Act as the next level of engineering escalation for issues encountered within the voice and video environment
  • Medium to High knowledge of ATOS Phone systems, Cisco Call Manager, and Voice over IP technology
  • Experience with network management operational tools such as Cisco Prime, Netscout, and IBM Tivoli
  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task projects with exceptional interpersonal skills and strong analytical skills
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



Required Qualifications

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience - 5+ years of relevant industry experience with large enterprise IP Telephony, diverse voice and video infrastructure, and in-depth knowledge of current network/voice hardware and protocols



Preferred Qualifications

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other advanced science or engineering field
  • Certification - Cisco CCNP, CCDP or CCIE
  • Other - Experience with Agile methodologies and Kanban systems

• Maintains the security of network infrastructure and compliance with all applicable industry and security standards
• Demonstrates experience with network management operational tools such as Cisco Prime, Netscout, and IBM Tivoli
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
