Responsibilities and Tasks:
You will work regularly with Micron's Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote, and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance. You will have the opportunity to travel to other Micron sites as well as technology conferences and trainings.
As part of your responsibilities you will be required to:

  • Provide hybrid technology directions through monthly worldwide collaboration meetings
  • Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Linux servers (RHEL primarily) in the private or public cloud.
  • Operational support escalation
  • Incident management and problem management
  • Project execution
  • Innovation
  • Improve operations efficiency with automation tasks
  • Maintain OLA and SLA agreements with other Micron Business Units.
  • Maintain global collaboration with the other Micron IT operations teams, both internal and external to I&O
  • On-Call support


Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Monitor overall health of the Unix/Linux Server environment with an emphasis on proactive discovery of potential issues
  • Troubleshoot\finetune performance issues and ensure high availability of the production servers
  • Use scripting languages and tools to automate operational activities, tasks, system builds, and change management (Ansible, puppet, Shell, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Propose and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems
  • Creating all the necessary documentation for any changes in the environment or new technology deployments as reference architecture for the global operation team.
  • Continuously improve operations through routine monitoring of system performance metrics and proactive actions.
  • Reviewing of system log files, trend analysis, configuration, incident, and problem management processes.
  • Recommends and works with the Solution and Enterprise Architect on system or architectural changes when needed to improve performance, high availability, scalability, or propose new technologies.
  • Ensures architectural consistency and provides technical direction through roadmap process, knowledge management, disaster recovery plan development and testing.

  • Able to build complex systems using network/storage/compute resources, whether on-prem, Hybrid or in the Cloud


Qualifications / Experience

  • At least 4+ years in managing Enterprise Unix/Linux Server solutions.
  • Proficiency with YAML/JSON used in Ansible playbooks
  • Familiarity with private cloud solutions such as VMWare and OpenShift
  • Fundamental networking skills
  • Good experience with Splunk
  • Good scripting skills (Shell, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with ServiceNow and Opsramp
  • Experience with at least one public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Excellent experience in supporting RHEL OSs
  • Experience with Linux LDAP
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Strong drive for continuous improvement
  • Good knowledge of Red hat Kickstart and configuration management tools (Satellite, Puppet, Ansible\Tower preferred)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal)
  • Strong skills in problem-solving\decision-making, prioritization, and negotiation
  • Passion and accountability for the environment you will be responsible for


Desired Compute Hardware Experience

  • Cisco UCS, HPE Superdome Flex, HPE Enclosure C7000, Blades\Standalone Servers and Dell PowerEdge Servers


Education:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, other technical disciplines, or equivalent work experience.
