General Summary:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Solution designing and the ability to lead a server technology domain by aligning business requirements, IT strategies, detecting critical deficiencies, and recommending solutions for continuous improvement
• Recent CKA and CKAD certifications. CKSS certification is a plus.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Python.
• Advanced proficiency with bash scripting.
• Advanced proficiency with Kustomize or Helm (preferably both).
• Advanced proficiency with git and Github.
• Intermediate proficiency with deployment and management of Continuous Deployment tools, especially ArgoCD, FluxCD, Spinnaker or Fleet.
• Comfortable using and developing on Linux as a primary OS.
• Intermediate Linux system administration skills.
• Comfortable with Agile project management in JIRA.

Beneficial additional experience:

• Bare-metal Kubernetes management with Rancher and RKE.
• Cloud Kubernetes management (GKE, EKS and AKS).
• DataDog log and metrics collection; dashboarding.
• Writing Operators in Python using KOPF.
• Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Gatekeeper OPA.
• AzureAD OAuth/OIDC/SAML authentication.
• Deployment and management of Portworx.

Minimum Qualifications:
This role is for a senior member of the Global Qualcomm OneIT Server Management Group (SMG). You will be responsible for solution deployment, architecture, infrastructure definition, infrastructure deployment tooling (DevOps) and server hardware specifications of technical solutions that meet Qualcomm's business needs and ROI objectives. SMG seeks a Kubernetes generalist who can assist with the construction, deployment, and troubleshooting of a bare-metal Kubernetes cluster using Rancher/RKE. Design and architecture work is complete and cluster deployment will be based on firmly established infrastructure at Qualcomm. After the cluster is deployed, will guide and assist application teams through the process of migrating existing VM-based workloads into the new Kubernetes environment, following Qualcomm IT best practices. You will be required to work closely with other senior members of cross functional technical teams to solve environment wide challenges. As a senior member of SMG you will be expected to not only deliver on technical requirements and solutions but also be able to present your solutions in group forums and to senior management.
