The qualified applicant will join a iReturn cohort of employees re-entering the workforce after a career break of at least two years. This cohort will receive special on-boarding designed to provide an effective re-entry into the workforce. iReturn provides experienced professionals with a 12-week "returnship" to prepare for a full-time career in one of several fields at Northrop Grumman through training, professional development and networking opportunities. Qualified applicants will join a cohort of employees returning to the workforce after a 2+ career break for this "returnship" program that focuses on giving you a seamless transition back into the workforce. This cohort program will approximately run fromlate January to early May and prepare candidates for an effective re-entry into the workforce. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for full-time roles with the company.

We are seeking a cleared or clearable Principal Hardware Systems Engineer to join our Rapid Innovation and Solutions Engineering Group in Hardware development and Project Engineering. This critical role is a key technical contributor to the successful completion of programs. We are looking for Professionals who want to drive and support teams in development of hardware systems while solving the puzzles that make a difference to our nation's security. Our programs cross a broad range of foci from RF and RADAR to embedded and comms systems, emphasizing low Size, Weight and Power (SWAP).

Mission is everything to our program teams. Our customers come to us because we have proven time and again we can meet their challenging requirements and do it quickly. Our Systems Engineers are responsible for communicating with our customers and end users to understand their requirements and ultimately turn those requirements into a product that can be fielded within their challenging environments and mission goals. Our products must survive harsh environments including terrestrial, airborne, and space. Therefore, experience in developing hardware solutions and implementing them with ingenuity and creativity is expected.

Besides utilizing the exciting technologies and solving the unique challenges of our customers to meet their missions, what makes being a Systems Engineer at Xetron great? Our program teams are typically small, 5-20 engineers, and our Systems Engineers are considered the technical leaders for the program helping to guide these teams through all lifecycle phases of our programs including requirements, design, implementation, test and delivery. As a Systems Engineer you don't live in the paperwork and instead have the opportunity to get their "hands dirty" having direct involvement from concept through production of these novel hardware systems including hands on development and test of custom electronics and mechanical systems. Finally short duration programs means our Systems Engineers have the opportunity to go through the entire project lifecycle across many projects, meeting new people and being exposed to new systems.

CIMS MSRAD DIVSE

Basic Qualifications Principal Engineer:
  • 2 year career break is required
  • 5 years' engineering experience with Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Science or related discipline OR 3 years' engineering experience with Masters in Electrical Engineering, Science or related discipline OR 0 years' engineering experience with PhD in Electrical Engineering, Science or related discipline
  • This position requires significant experience in two or more of the following:
    • Systems Engineering and/or Architecting RF or Digital systems
    • Full system to circuit card level development exposure
    • Integrated circuit and electronics design of RF or Digital systems
    • Development and test of embedded systems.
  • US Citizenship and an active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to get SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI - Master's / PhD in a relevant field
  • Significant technical contribution in RF hardware (receivers and transmit-ters), DSP design, RF communication, signal collection, and/or EW programs
  • Experience in designing complex system architectures
  • Experience with the challenges in designing hardware systems to survive in harsh environments including terrestrial, airborne, and space
  • Experience in SWAP design challenges
  • Requirements derivation & flow down
  • Systems integration testing
  • Verification and Validation
  • Leading system and/or subsystem design with direct involvement
This position offers the option of a 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to basepay.
