The Global Partnership (GP) team's mission is to collaborate with international governments, industry, and other U.S. Government departments and agencies on space systems development and acquisition. Through close coordination with key U.S. departments and agencies, the GP team brings space systems expertise to develop space cooperation with international partners and commercial entities that enhances the U.S. DoD space architecture's effectiveness and resiliency.
In this opportunity you will serve as the technical advisor to the government's Space Systems Command (SSC) Cross Mission Ground and Communications team, enabling global network architectures, developing interfaces to integrate partners which enable data access and enhance operational warfighter mission outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide technical direction and recommendations to USG customers on identifying and developing international partnerships and agreements to integrate into US DoD space systems architecture
- Leverage your technical acumen and soft-people skills to lead and facilitate exploratory and negotiating discussions with U.S. and international stakeholders towards development of new partnerships and/or agreements at a fast-pace speed that is operationally relevant to our warfighters
- Develop technical assessments and analyses in support of international partnership and agreement development
- Provide space systems acquisition expertise and leadership of allied acquisition efforts through collaboration with stakeholders across various Aerospace and USG organizations, the SSC programs of record, and allied governments
- Provide advice and guidance regarding directives, policies, and regulations for government international agreements, facilitate Aerospace and customer application of the Arms Export Control Act and implementation of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) for armaments cooperation, export control, technology transfer and foreign disclosure
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed
This position is available as a Project Engineer or as a Senior Project Engineer.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, etc.) or a related technical field
- Eight or more years of increasingly responsible relevant professional engineering/scientific experience, including systems engineering and/or program management
- Ability to work closely with senior government managementand guide senior leaders on space systems acquisition, design, or production through engineering presentations, informal discussions and courses of action decisions
- Some experience supporting the planning and development of space systems ground, network architecturesand/or programs.
- Willing to travel domestically/internationally approximately 25%
- This position requires a current and active Secret security clearance and an ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, etc.) or a related technical field
- Twelve or more years of increasingly responsible relevant professional engineering/scientific experience, including systems engineering and/or program management
- Proven capability to work closely with senior government managementand guide senior leaders on space systems acquisition, design, or production through engineering presentations, informal discussions and courses of action decisions
- Demonstrated experience supporting the planning and development of space systems ground, network architecturesand/or programs. Resulting in broad technical/programmatic impact inside and/or outside of Aerospace.
- Experience with multiple mission areas across the SSC portfolio, including SATCOM, remote sensing/early warning, PNT, as well as a background in software, cyber, and/or ground system integration
- Willing to travel domestically/internationally approximately 25%
- This position requires a current and active Secret security clearance and an ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- An advanced degree from an accredited program in STEM areas likeoperations research, engineering, computer science, networking, cyberor related applicable technical discipline.
- Considered an expert in one of the following: solution architecting, systems engineering processes, or project management and familiar with the other two.
- Familiarity with the latest networking technologies, security and tools, and the development of new resilient space networking concepts, algorithms, and protocols in the areas of space mesh networks, proliferated LEO architectures, 5G, Internet of Space Things, network virtualization, and software defined networks.
- Demonstrated hands on experience in defense and/or commercial networks incorporating the design, analysis, and simulation of the next generation of advanced space and ground networks, communication system concepts, and architectures.
- Previous experience in working the Arms Export Control Act, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), export control, technology transfer, and foreign disclosure matters and/or in supporting international armaments cooperation agreements
- A current and active TS/SCI with polygraph
