The Role

We’re looking for an experienced integration engineer to lead Circulo’s efforts to build robust interoperability capabilities and well-designed systems integrations. In this role, you’ll bring technical expertise to design, develop, implement, and help support complex healthcare systems interfaces. We’re looking for people who are energized by our mission to harness emerging digital technologies to eliminate friction in the healthcare system and provide better care to the nation’s most underserved populations. This is a critical role reporting to the Head of Data and dedicated to building and securely sharing the key data assets that make it all possible.


What You Will Do

  • Partner with other Circulo engineers to scope, design, test, and deploy data integration solutions, including determination of communication requirements, secured integration approach, development effort, and risk mitigation measures
  • Build data models and manage various data schemas and interfaces (both custom and standard)
  • Design, build, and fine-tune data translation processes and data exchange for low to high complexity interfaces using Circulo’s integration engine and other applications as needed
  • Contribute to the development of APIs to enable secure data exchange, including data in industry standard formats (e.g. FHIR)

Who We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience building EMR/EHR system integrations or equivalent healthcare interoperability experience
  • Strong command of clinical data applications & systems and health data structure / messaging standards
  • Experience with common healthcare data standards (e.g. HL7 2.x/3.x, FHIR, CCD, C-CDA, X12, USCDI) and translation of data into / out of standard formats; HL7 FHIR Developer Certification preferred
  • Experience using interface engines (e.g. Mirth Connect, Corepoint, Rhapsody, Pilotfish) to handle complex message transformations & routing
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Java, Javascript, Python, C++)
  • Experience with building, testing, deploying, and supporting industry standard interoperable APIs
  • Experience with various communication technologies and interface protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, SFTP, VPN)
  • Knowledge of web service technologies (SOAP, REST, SAML, SOA, XML, JSON)
  • Familiarity with healthcare standard terminologies (e.g. RxNorm, NDC, SNOMED, CPT codes, UMLS, NDC, etc.)
  • Experience designing integration architectures
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and services
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced agile environment, and the ability to consistently revise your approach in response to new information
