Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role:
As part of the Enterprise Cyber Security (ECS) organization, this role will have a direct impact on identifying priorities to constantly improve security at PayPal. This role providers value to PayPal by executing threat models on various efforts, identifying priorities for cyber security, and championing threat awareness throughout PayPal. This position is being created to build the threat modeling team, focusing on identifying the enterprise cyber security priorities that the teams and orgs should work on.

This role will work closely with different teams within cyber security and line of business partners building threat models and driving high impact security and technology changes. This role will have opportunities to keep up with current and emerging threats in the industry and latest bleeding edge tech to identify gaps or areas to improve upon in cyber security.

This role is best served with prior experience in cyber security engineering with capability to dive deep into various technologies, have a thirst for being on the cutting edge, and have a passion for security

Your day to day:

  • Ability to focus on several cyber security domains (including, but not limited to: Application Security, Cloud Security, Cryptography, Identity and Access Management, Network Security, and applications to provide effective threat and risk identification.
  • Partner with cyber security and business partners lines of business (including but not limited to, PayPal, Xoom, and Braintree) to gather information to facilitate and complete threat models.
  • Evaluate various security controls and mitigations to threats within PayPal to paint accurate picture of current threat posture.
  • Drive change by inspiring executive leadership at PayPal by presenting threat model and priority shifts.
  • Threat Model Engineers will be expected to keep active in the cybersecurity industry with current and emerging threats and determine which threats may be relevant to recommend and drive efforts that PayPal should be focused on for cyber security.


What do you need to bring

  • 5 years' experience in technical lead infrastructure or platform role at a large, global company in dynamic and fast-changing markets.
  • Domain experience in Application Security and Cloud Security, Identity and Access Management, and Network Security experience
  • Ability to perform threat assessments leveraging known threat modeling and/or risk frameworks.
  • Ability to assess complex business problems, prioritize risks, and strategize solutions to eliminate and reduce threats in a systemic approach.
  • Strong orientation toward making decisions that will benefit the organization, rather than optimizing resources or benefits solely in a single-track mindset.

Colorado Only : The pay range for this position is as mentioned below per year, plus annual bonus. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary. Colorado Salary in USD : $134385 - $166005
