Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate need for an Information Assurance Engineer supporting work in our Scottsdale, Arizona location.

Duties and Tasks:

  • Performs or leads system security engineering specializing in Cyber Design, Engineering, Integration, and Deployment.
  • Work with a multi-disciplined program teams and make decisions related to resource allocation, work assignment, schedule management, risk and opportunity management, and quality attainment in meeting program milestones and cyber objectives.
  • Contribute to cyber resiliency and security risk management of a national significance.
  • Perform as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a range of cybersecurity capabilities and products.
  • Development of required security documentation including items such as system security design, requirements compliance matrices, system security plans, contingency plans, and standard operating procedures in compliance with the IA policy
  • Performs or leads requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system, subsystem or system elements with little or no supervision
  • Performs or leads technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elements
  • Performs or leads evaluations of systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
  • Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Effectively chooses the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
  • Serves as consultant to management and customers on projects and applications
  • Travel may be required
  • Assignments may be self-initiated


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Coordinating the accreditation of the Cross Domain Solution (CDS)
  • Planning and executing the RMF assessment
  • Experience deploying cybersecurity solutions with specific focus on cross domain solutions that meet NSA/NCDSMO and NSA Raise the Bar security requirements
  • Security engineering and integration services
  • Experience with multi-level security (MLS) and MILS architectures
  • Experience with PitBull operating systems is a plus
  • Review security testing and evaluation to ensure the correct implementation of security requirements
  • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirement Guides (SRGs) in tactical environments
  • Experience in using, understanding and tailoring of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Frequently contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas
  • Major contributor to the achievement of business objectives
  • Substantial proficiency with requirements management, system design & system modeling tools
  • Recognizes various architectural patterns, applies them appropriately, understands strengths/weaknesses within those architectures and develops architectural variations as necessary
  • Substantial proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Substantial written and verbal communications skills
  • Creative thinker
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Substantial skills in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
  • Substantial ability to clearly report information relevant to sound systems engineering design
