Imaging Engineer

As part of the Studio Technology team you’ll be joining a group of seasoned, dedicated technologists solving a range of creative problems in innovative ways within an exciting and dynamic industry.
We are looking for a talented, curious, and inventive Software Engineer – Video Technology to join our StudioLAB team: someone who wants to shape the next generation of creative and production technology and directly help drive innovation across our creative cinematic pipelines.
In this role, you will work directly with a team of other researchers and software engineers. You will have ownership and lead the development of new features, through defining requirements, developing proof of concept and prototype, demonstrating the value proposition to stakeholders, deriving support through the imaging ecosystem from content creation to playback, and delivering high-quality reference code to engineering teams. The ideal candidate brings a passion for imaging and the personal focus and drive to spearhead new projects through a complex imaging ecosystem.
Basic Qualifications :
- Ability to create software that is efficient, clean, modular, bug-free, understandable to others, and well documented.
- Deep understanding of various audio/video codecs such as H.264/H.265/ AV1/ProRes/J2K and how/why specific codecs are used throughout the digital supply chain.
- Ability to use from and collaborate with various video and image processing libraries and software (e.g. FFMPEG, OpenImageIO, OpenColorIO, OpenCV etc).
- Experienced eye for video quality detail and understanding of various video artifacts and how to optimize the encoding process to prevent them.
- Inquisitive. You are curious and ask questions often. You’re hungry to learn new things and understand complex problems. You have a desire to learn how things are done and that drives you to look for ways to improve and streamline existing processes.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. You face change with a cool head and persevere even if you don’t have all the details; you’re comfortable moving between projects and facing the uncertain because risk and change motivates you to evolve and innovate.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work in a team environment.

- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in developing imaging algorithms
- Additional experience across the feature film and animation/VFX pipeline a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with content creation imaging ecosystem (e.g. DaVinci Resolve, Nuke)
- Familiarity with various video formats: SDR/HDR, Dolby Vision
- Experience in machine learning development
- Experience in programming languages such as: C++, C#, Python
Required Education :
Bachelor or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Imaging Science, or related field
