HW PCB Design Entry Engineer
Job Description
Performs research, design, and development of test equipment, library, program flow, fixture, hardware, probing, module and/or tester for main and/or peripheral printed boards assembly (PBA). Responsibilities include support of architecture development, design material gathering, device library, support of test plan development, supporting design review, schematic entry for design of test/fixture, supporting debug of test/fixture, resolving design documentation and implementation issues, design process reviews and updates, meeting design quality requirements and target metrics, and updating design documentation as needed through product life cycle. Plans and schedules daily tasks, uses judgment on a variety of problems requiring deviation from standard practices. Inadequacies and erroneous decisions would cause moderate inconvenience and expense.
In this position your responsibilities will include:
• Participation in multi-disciplinary board hardware teams focused on the development, testing and utilization of hardware components for use in Intel factory product test systems.
• Partner with senior design engineers and architects in implementation of PCB and PBA design requirements.
• Complete logical design for assigned PCB projects through electronics component selection, schematic entry, BOM definition, and design documentation collateral creation.
• Collaboration with CAD engineering for cross-functional design review of component placement and layout for PCB designs.
• Compile, publish, and maintain board and system level component Bills of Material to internal systems of record. Interface with Architects, Design Engineers, materials PM and commodity specialists to aid in selection specific design components to meet mechanical/thermal & system requirements.
• Assist with Board HW power-on activities and with the subsequent debug of sightings and issues identified.
• Help define improvements in both design tool flows or process simplification and automation to improve efficiency and quality.
• Ensure board HW design meets quality, reliability, and functionality specifications.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with an associated HW focus.
- 5+ years experience in high-speed digital circuit board design.
- Experience and expertise with PCB Desig Entry tools.
- Knowledge and experience in schematic capture, printed circuit board layout, and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, DMM)
- Experience with Type 4 and Type 3 HDI PCB layout designs.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills for interacting with architects, design engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, product regulatory engineers, material planners, and project managers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Manufacturing and Test systems and associated Tester HW architecture.
- Experience designing systems to support long life (7+ years) in manufacturing test environments.
- Experience with design for EMC and associated regulatory compliance.
- Solid work ethics and team player.
- Willing to work independently.
