HIL Development Engineer - Autonomous & Automated Driving

As we move towards our ZERO ZERO ZERO vision, the Global Validation Team is looking to add hardworking individuals as a HIL Subsystem Bench Development Engineers!
As a HIL Subsystem Bench Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing real-time controls simulation models for various vehicle domains such as Electrification, Active Safety, Chassis, and Body Controls. Role responsibilities will include plant modeling, and integration of plant models with Hardware-In-the-Loop environment for networked ECUs. Specific design and build activities that you will be responsible for include:
- Design, Implement, and Test Novel HIL Bench Solutions, Simulation, and Instrumentation for new vehicle features and technology
- Develop test methods, configurations, and real-time Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation Models using Matlab/Simulink through collaboration with validation engineers
- Adapt and Integrate Chassis, Active Safety, Electrification, and Propulsion System controllers and Plant Models with HIL bench
- Develop and/or adapt Vehicle Dynamics simulation models (e.g. CarSim, VeDyna, or ASM-VD) with other plant models for bench use
- Develop solutions for instrumentation and simulation of Electronic Controls Unit (ECU) sensors and actuators
- Develop HIL test automation and scripting solutions to enhance testing efficiency
- Train and support validation engineers on Hardware-In-the-Loop bench usage
The Bench Development Engineer is responsible for development activities throughout a vehicle's lifecycle including:
- Definition of bench and test property technical requirements
- Electrical design integration and verification
- Electrical design testing and validation
This role requires an experienced engineer to lead and drive a cross-functional product development team including collaboration within a variety of teams within Engineering and outside of Engineering.

Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical with Electrical Experience)
- 2+ years of professional experience (outside of co-ops and internships)
- Experience using Hardware-In-the-Loop systems for developing real- time controls
- Experience in Matlab/Simulink modeling
- Demonstrated experience in Electrical Test and Development, and Vehicle Electrical Architecture
Preferred Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience (outside of co-ops and internships)
- Prior experience in Chassis Controls modeling and simulation using modeling tools such as CarSim, VeDyna, or ASM..
- Prior experience in Electrification Controls modeling and simulation using Matlab Simulink
- Understanding of GMLAN/CAN vehicle communication system and CAN based monitoring tools (CANalyzer, NeoVi,..)
- Prior experience in ADAS (Active Safety) Controls modeling and simulation
- Understanding of advanced vehicle communications protocols such as Flexray and Ethernet.
- Understanding of Systems Engineering Based Vehicle Development
- Understanding of Control Systems Theory
- Understanding of Vehicle System Electrical Architecture
- High level of written and oral communication skills to work effectively with others- Must be able to build relationships and collaborate cross functionally
