Cruise is looking for a Hardware Test Engineer (Sensors) to help us bring-up and test our next generation vehicles and sensors as well as contribute positively to our testing culture by developing sustainable and scalable test station processes and methods. In this position, you will work on a multidisciplinary team and work directly with various stakeholders in order to gather test station requirements to support robust and thorough testing on fast-paced timelines. You will need an aptitude to learn what your immediate responsibilities are as well as how they tie into broader team and company goals.
- Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to define test requirements
- Design and build test systems in order to collect meaningful and useful data
- Drive HW Integration design and implementation for large test systems
- Lead and execute hardware (sensor) test efforts
- Collect, present, and archive understandable test data and results by using google docs/sheets/slides
- Interface regularly with other technical leads to resolve test design, build, and execution issues
What you must have:
- 3-5 years working as a hardware test, integration, or mechatronics engineer
- Strong CAD experience
- Experience in HW integration testing and development
- Have worked in a sensor (camera, lidar, radar, etc.) hardware R&D environment
- Experience writing and maintaining documentation (Google Suite, Confluence, JIRA)
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong work ethic, quality workmanship, and team oriented
- A self starter mentality. The ability to take direction and proactively seek out any missing information or details to accomplish a task.
- Experience using Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems
- Ability to thrive in a cooperative, rapidly changing team setting with aggressive goals and challenging timelines
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis with a propensity for creative out of the box thinking.
- Fabrication skills including but not limited to harness creation and custom fixturing
- Knowledge of or experience with sensor HW testing and characterization
- Strong software skills: Python, MATLAB, C/C++
- You are able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and network diagrams to understand how they apply to a physical setup
