Job Description:
Position Summary
Management, Operational Readiness, Capacity/Availability Management, Application Monitoring, Service Analytics and Reporting, Production Governance, Triage, Associate Support. The SDP Hadoop Application Reliability Engineer develops and sponsors tactics to achieve strategic objectives across functional groups or within a business group. Provides technical leadership for work teams in specialized functional or process areas. They are also the escalation point for unresolved problems, complaints and complex service requests. Key skill sets include consulting skills and conflict resolution, proactively drive innovative business solutions, and use technical, enterprise, and business knowledge to work across structures to meet customer needs. Individuals will be the lead engineers for a large-scale Hadoop Application Support who will be responsible for an end-to-end understanding of the architecture & design of Hadoop Application processes. The candidate will also be focusing on developing the next generation applications' architecture and execution strategy. The position will also guide the response to critical issues, including root cause analysis as well as mitigate future risks to the applications and environment. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Works under minimal supervision. Typically, 7-12+ years of systems experience.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field, or equivalent education and related training.
  • Seven years of experience in data warehousing architectural approaches and minimum 4 years in big data (Cloudera).
  • Exposure to and strong working knowledge of distributed systems.
  • Excellent understanding of client-service models and customer orientation in service delivery.
  • Ability to grasp the 'big picture' for a solution by considering all potential options in impacted area.
  • Experience in diagnosing complex technical issues.
  • Aptitude to understand and adapt to newer technologies.
  • Ability to work or lead a technical team from diversified geography and culture to complete strategic planning, mission-critical design and development work.
  • Presentation skills to prepare and present to large and small groups on technical and functional topics.
  • Large scale multi-tier eCommerce applications design for performance and resiliency.
  • Distributed cache deployment and configuration.
  • Deep knowledge of Web technologies such as webservers and app servers.
  • Strong experience with TCP/IP networks technologies.
  • Good understanding of Java, C# .Net, C++ or similar.


Desired Skills

  • Previous experience in the financial services industry.
  • Previous experience in production support.
  • Broad BofA technical experience and good understanding of existing testing/operational processes and an open mind on how to enhance those.
  • Understanding of industry trends and relevant application technologies.
  • Experience in designing and implementing analytical environments and business intelligence solutions.
