The GPS III/IIIF program is responsible for the development and production of the next generations of GPS satellites. The United States Space Force (USSF) is producing and deploying 10 GPS III satellites that will provide expanded warfighter and civilian capabilities. In addition, the USSF has awarded a contract for up to 22 additional GPS III follow-on (GPS IIIF) satellites. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to provide technical and programmatic support to the GPS III/IIIF navigation payload development, production and integration efforts and interact effectively with the USSF, Aerospace's Engineering & Technology Group (ETG), and contractors in a fast-paced program office environment. The selected applicant will be expected to proactively lead Aerospace's efforts to help its AF customer integrate the navigation payload with the Lockheed Martin A2100 and LM2100 satellite buses.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide navigation payload support in all areas of the GPS III/IIIF efforts, including the development and verification of interface requirements and leadership of special studies
- Simultaneously participate as part of a team of diversely skilled engineers focused on the production and deployment of the remaining GPS III satellites, as well as leading the development and production of the GPS IIIF navigation payload, including technical performance requirement assessments, risk assessment and management, and program execution
- Act as one of three technical chief engineers specifically responsible for the areas of Navigation Payload, Antenna Element, and Network Communication Element
- Provide oversight of the development and production of specific payload elements such as atomic frequency standards and advise the USSF counterparts as issues arise
- Work as part of a team that includes Aerospace, government, an SE&I contractor, SETA contractors, and the prime contractor and their subcontractors identifying navigation payload issues, providing non-directive advice, prioritizing evaluation tasks and facilitating communication
- Act as the technical representative to the USSF covering Systems Engineering and Integration disciplines in support of the Navigation Payload on the GPS III/IIIF contracts
- Provide technical expertise to ensure successful program milestone reviews, contract modifications, review of contractor deliverables, requirements development, risk identification and mitigation, and schedule developments
- Investigate technical problems, assemble briefings and reports, and provide technical data to address government action items, and programmatic taskers
What You Need To Be Successful
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline from a recognized institution
- Typically, 12 or more years of increasingly responsible relevant professional engineering experience
- Experience with aerospace systems, including hardware development, production, mission integration, test, and/or operation
- Demonstrated experience leading and effectively managing projects
- Ability to synthesize and present technical data clearly and concisely
- Current Secret clearance, with the ability to get a Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Capability to manage Engineering & Technology Group (ETG) matrix support
- Aptitude to provide recommendations to and informing Customer/Aerospace management of technical activities, issues, and accomplishments through reports and briefings to senior level management
- Travel domestically and occasionally support extended work hours

- Lockheed Martin A2100/LM2100-specific satellite design and development experience, including space vehicle bus operation and/or payload integration
- Experience with satellite systems, including satellite development, production, mission integration, test, and/or operation
- Detailed knowledge of GPS navigation payload design and operation, especially atomic frequency standards
- Experience identifying and resolving technical problems of complex systems
- Experience identifying and resolving satellite on-orbit anomalies
- Current Top Secret/SCI clearance
