About the role

As a Lead on the Web Team, you will manage and provide technical leadership for a team of engineers supporting and developing the platform behind our flagship website, www.mongodb.com. The solutions your team delivers will support numerous distinct business groups within MongoDB who use our platform to reach millions of visitors a day. You’ll be a hands-on leader, designing and leading delivery of elegant, scalable technical solutions to challenges that are unique to large global marketing websites. 

Our ideal candidate

• Has 3+ years of experience managing and leading a software engineering team 
• Has at least 6 years of experience building production-ready web sites or applications
• Deeply understands JavaScript and is familiar with modern JavaScript APIs and syntax
• Enjoys building accessible, compatible, optimized, resilient, scalable global websites
• Can code review, debug, write, and architect systems using MongoDB, Express, React, Node, HTML and CSS
• Has worked with or built an atomic design system
• Has a point of view on common software engineering management concerns, including how to improve quality; how to manage technical debt; and how to keep teams happy and productive 
• Enjoys working with technical & non-technical stakeholders to understand the problems they want to solve
• Wants to establish a strong engineering culture and help a great team of engineers grow their careers from within the marketing organization
• Understands the critical role a website plays in modern B2B software marketing and is excited to build a world-class website platform to enable MongoDB to reach people worldwide

You will

• Manage 5+ staff and contract developers working on the frontend and backend code powering www.mongodb.com
• Maintain a technical roadmap and work with product leadership to prioritize it
• Make architectural decisions that will influence the evolution of our platform for years to come
• Monitor the performance of our systems and engineering team and own solutions for challenges that arise
• Mentor, coach, and grow junior and senior engineers
• Share responsibility for the success of our web products with product managers, design leads, and other engineering leads
